An open letter to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community:
The second annual CHCCS Dance Marathon is over and it was a monumental success! 360 students from eight different high schools, including the three in our district, came to East Chapel Hill High School for 6 hours on February 18, 2017. Standing in solidarity for patients at UNC Children's Hospital that could not stand for themselves, we raised $12,376 for the Carolina For The Kids Foundation!
There are so many to thank for helping us exceed this year's goal of raising $10,000, a bar which was set above 2016's inaugural total of $7,463. 32 amazing local sponsors provided an abundance of donations to keep our participants engaged. 5 dynamic performers entertained us with their musical acts. 15 on-site volunteers from the Carolina For The Kids Foundation Executive Board shared moving stories and inspired us to stay on our feet. Countless parents and teachers supported our students in bringing together the so many components involved. We love you all and sincerely appreciate the hard work that went into this event.
We hope that everyone can really learn from CHCCS Dance Marathon: First, our community is capable of doing incredible things when we come together on so many fronts. This level of collaboration in our district on the high school level is just about unprecedented and it proved to be consequential. But second, CHCCS Dance Marathon is possible because of an unrelenting cause. This year's accomplishment is certainly something to be proud of and we ought to strive for further progress in providing major support to the patients and families of North Carolina. Hopefully, CHCCS Dance Marathon is maintained as a staple event in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community for years to come. For that to happen, we will need your help.
